The powder blue and orange stripe that is outlined in black takes direct inspiration from the Gulf Oil racing teams from the late 1960's through the mid-1970's. Steve McQueen in the cult classic film Le Mans drives a Porsche 917 that is outfitted in the Gulf Oil racing colors. The Gulf Oil racing colors can still be seen on the track today and are synonymously associated with Porsche which McQueen was also a huge fan of.
